Professional Experience

Josh focuses his practice on estate planning, probate, small business representation as outsourced general counsel, and litigation, with a particular emphasis on construction defect claims on behalf of homeowners. His estate planning work ranges from preparing simple wills and related documents to designing complex trust-based plans tailored to each client’s needs. He also routinely handles probate and contested matters, drawing on his litigation experience to anticipate how courts may interpret estate planning documents and to ensure his clients’ plans are both effective and defensible.

Josh began his career while attending law school as a clerk for the Texas Fourteenth Court of Appeals and worked with both the United States Department of Homeland Security and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. After passing the bar exam, he focused on insurance coverage litigation, representing large real estate developers and construction companies in a small firm setting. He later founded The J. D. Wilson Law Firm, PLLC, where he assisted families with estate planning and represented their inheritance rights in Texas courts, while also advising small business clients. Prior to joining Grable Martin, Josh practiced with Sprouse Shrader Smith, PLLC, where he represented homeowners in construction defect cases involving swimming pool companies, among his usual practice areas of estate planning, probate, and small business representation.

Personal Story

Josh and his wife, Alessandra, are the proud parents of three daughters and share their home with two larger-than-life Great Danes who ensure there is never a dull moment. Family is at the center of Josh’s life, and he treasures the time they spend together, whether at home or exploring the outdoors.

When he’s not practicing law, Josh enjoys cooking, reading history, and challenging himself through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai. An avid outdoorsman, he takes every opportunity to get outside and appreciates the balance that nature, family, and lifelong learning bring to his busy professional life.
