Brief Bio
Josh’s practice consists of estate planning, probate, small business representation as outsourced general counsel, and litigation, with a strong focus on construction defect claims on behalf of homeowners. Josh’s estate planning practice focuses on the preparation of estate planning documents of varying complexity that span from simple Last Will and Testaments and accompanying documents up to and including complex trust planning documents.
Josh believes strongly that to draft quality estate planning documents, it is necessary to see how a Court will analyze such documents in a contested setting; therefore, Josh routinely handles a variety of probate matters, including contested matters.
The Rest of the Story
Josh was born in Houston, Texas and is a 7th generation Texan. Josh graduated from Clements High School in Sugar Land, Texas where he was active in the school’s NJROTC program. Josh then attended and graduated with degrees in history and psychology from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas and, as a result, remains a cautiously optimistic fan of Aggie Football.
Josh had planned on serving in the United States Navy after graduation from Texas A&M; however, a knee injury changed his plans, so he worked in corporate insurance for several years as a claims adjuster before deciding to go to law school at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. In law school, Josh clerked for the Texas 14th Court of Appeals and worked at the United States Department of Homeland Security and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
After passing the bar exam, Josh’s practice focused on insurance coverage litigation, where he represented large real estate developers and construction companies in a small firm setting. Josh then started The J. D. Wilson Law Firm, PLLC and began to help families in the planning of their estates and representing their inheritance rights in Texas courts. Josh also took the lessons from starting his own business and began representing small business clients. Before joining Grable Martin, Josh was a member of Sprouse Shrader Smith, PLLC, where he began representing homeowners in cases against swimming pool companies for defective construction.
Josh is married to his wife Alessandra and has three daughters and two Great Danes. Josh enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, reading historical books, practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai, and spending time outdoors.
