Joining Grable Martin after a number of years as a busy solo practice attorney and consultant, she was previously a partner and co-head of the Austin corporate practice of the international law firm of Bracewell, LLP after stints with the Houston office of Baker & Hostetler and Wood, Lucksinger & Epstein.
Throughout much of her career, she has worked primarily with entrepreneurs, closely-held start-up and early-stage technology companies, and emerging growth companies well as venture capital and private equity groups and individual angel investors, in a broad variety of industries including technology, gaming, biotech, oil & gas, real estate, health care, and entertainment.
Gail serves as outside general counsel and trusted business advisor for many of her long-term clients, has overseen legal and operational startup and growth of numerous companies, and has handled over $1 billion in combined equity and debt financing. She holds an M.B.A. from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin, and a J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law.
Gail is known as a behind-the-scenes connector of business and community leaders locally, statewide and nationally. A graduate of the 2002-2003 Class of Leadership Austin, she is active in a number of community and civic organizations and has volunteered with, served on the board of and/or informally advised and mentored a number of Austin area nonprofits, including the Austin Guitartown Project, Austin Music Foundation, Accountants & Lawyers for the Arts, American Youthworks, Austin Children’s Museum/The Thinkery, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and the Breast Cancer Resource Center.
She always tries to pay it forward, offering solicited and unsolicited advice and mentoring to friends and family, clients and random acquaintances. She enjoys spending time with her large extended family and many friends in Austin and elsewhere, traveling, Austin’s lively music and arts scene, geeking out with software and gadgets, and performing with various improv groups.
