Professional Experience
Shauna R. Martin is a founding member and co-manager of Grable Martin PLLC and a corporate attorney with more than 30 years of experience advising private and publicly traded companies. Her practice focuses on corporate mergers and acquisitions, and she frequently serves as outside general counsel to clients, particularly in the communications technology sector and among government and defense contractors. In addition to her legal work, Shauna oversees the firm’s financial and internal operations, championing the use of advanced legal technology and research tools to ensure the delivery of efficient, business-focused legal services. Before co-founding Grable Martin, Shauna held executive and general counsel roles with several public and private companies, including TriStar Aerospace (NYSE), Hotels.com (NASDAQ), andRibbon Communications. While at GENBAND (now Ribbon), she led a high-performing M&A team responsible for more than two dozen acquisitions and divestitures, including the acquisition of Nortel’s global assets across more than 50 countries. Shauna has been honored for her ability to build and lead an in-house corporate legal team by the Association of Corporate Counsel which awarded her the ACC Corporate Counsel Award for Best General Counsel – Small Legal Department, during her tenure as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of GENBAND. Shauna began her legal career at Husch Blackwell. She is admitted to practice law in Texas and Arkansas.
Personal Story
Shauna earned her J.D. from the University of Arkansas School of Law, her LL.M. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, and her B.A. from the University of Central Arkansas. In 2005, she was diagnosed with stage II breast cancer and was later re-diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer in 2017. Since then, she has continued treatment while actively leading Grable Martin as one of its Founders and as a Co-Manager of the firm, in addition to continuing her full-time corporate legal practice. In addition, Shauna still finds time to advocate for other women facing metastatic breast cancer by embracing her personal motto: “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning how to dance in the rain.”
To that end she recently founded the Shauna Martin Metastatic Breast Cancer Foundation to raise funds to assist women with travel expenses so that they are able to access the latest and most advanced treatments for metastatic breast cancer as Shauna has been able to do since her re-diagnosis in 2017. Through the foundation, she also shares her personal story hoping that it will inspire other women battling metastatic breast cancer, including her family’s journey and the joy of building a blended family with her husband, Jimmy. Shauna’s son, Cooper, attends the University of Oregon. Her stepson, Randy, is a University of Texas graduate working at Dell in Round Rock, and her stepdaughter, Julie, is a Texas State graduate living in New York City and working as a flight attendant for Delta Airlines.
Community Engagement and Associations
Shauna is deeply committed to community engagement and advocacy, particularly in support of women facing breast cancer. In 2012, inspired by her own recovery journey, she founded Daily Greens, an organic cold-pressed juice company whose products were carried by major retailers including Whole Foods, Costco, Target, Kroger, and Sprouts. She is also the author of the Daily Greens 4-Day-Cleanse, sharing her approach to healing through nutrition and plant-based wellness.
Since her original diagnosis of breast cancer more than 20 years ago, Shauna has co-founded numerous nonprofit initiatives and helped raise millions for breast cancer advocacy. In addition to her most recent project, the Shauna Martin Metastatic Breast Cancer Foundation her other breast cancer advocacy projects include: founding and fundraising for the young survivor network known as the Pink Ribbon Cowgirls, founding and fundraising for the Texas Mamma Jamma Ride (now known as the Big Pink Benefit), and founding and fundraising for Art Bra® Austin . She has served on the boards of the Young Survival Coalition and the Breast Cancer Resource Center of Texas (BCRC). Her leadership and advocacy have earned numerous honors, the Dallas Business Journal’s Best Corporate Counsel Award in Community Service, and the Komen Pink Diamond Warrior Award, among others. Shauna’s story and advocacy work have also been featured by national media outlets such as MSNBC, Fox News, and CNBC, as well as publications including InStyle, Glamour, Family Circle, Redbook, and Cooking Light.
