Brief Bio
Adriana Lopez-Ortiz is a business attorney and estate planning attorney who serves as trusted outside counsel to entrepreneurs, privately held companies, executives, families, and growing businesses. Her practice includes corporate transactions, contract drafting and negotiation, governance and operational matters, mergers and acquisitions support, and wills, trusts, and estate planning.
Before joining Grable Martin, Adriana practiced at regional law firms and also gained in-house experience supporting business operations and commercial matters from the client side. She regularly serves in an outside general counsel role, advising clients on day-to-day legal operations, strategic growth initiatives, customer and vendor relationships, and complex commercial matters across a broad range of industries. She particularly enjoys working with founder-led businesses, service-based companies, creative ventures, and closely held family enterprises. Clients value her responsiveness, practical business judgment, and ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, commercially workable advice.
Adriana approaches the practice of law with both analytical rigor and a deeply human perspective, believing effective legal counsel should not only protect clients legally, but also help them operate and grow with greater confidence and clarity.
The Rest of the Story
Adriana grew up in Brownsville, Texas, in the Rio Grande Valley along the U.S.-Mexico border, an experience that continues to shape both her worldview and her approach to client relationships. Growing up in a culturally rich border community instilled in her a deep appreciation for personal connection, adaptability, hard work, and the importance of understanding people from many different backgrounds and perspectives.

She attended Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island — a dramatic change from South Texas — where she studied Anthropology, Theatre Arts, and Dance, ultimately earning her degree in Anthropology. While at Brown, Adriana spent much of her time in the dance studio and theater and also walked on to Brown’s NCAA Division I women’s volleyball team as a middle blocker. Those experiences continue to inform her creativity, discipline, and ability to connect with people.

After college, Adriana spent time living in New York City and briefly attended The New School for Drama in Manhattan’s West Village, where she studied acting at the graduate level before ultimately returning to Texas. Adriana later returned to Texas to attend South Texas College of Law—Houston, and ultimately built her practice in Austin, focusing on business transactions, outside general counsel services, and estate planning.
Adriana lives in Southwest Austin with her husband, Danny -a Tejano music recording artist whom she met at a wedding where his band was performing – and their two children. She continues to study flamenco and folklórico dance and maintains longstanding interests in the creative arts, visual art, gardening, and herbal and nutritional wellness. Music, dance, creativity, and community remain a meaningful part of her family life and continue to shape Adriana’s thoughtful, grounded, and highly relational approach to both life and the practice of law.
