Professional Experience
Matthew is a trial attorney who focuses on corporate bankruptcy and restructuring, securities fraud, director and officer liability, fiduciary litigation, and investor and shareholder disputes. He also represents bankruptcy trustees, receivers, and insolvency professionals in complex insolvency litigation. In addition, he advises clients across a range of industries, including financial services, energy, hospitality, real estate, and private equity. Known as an engaging and formidable courtroom advocate, Matthew has litigated matters in federal and bankruptcy courts nationwide, including Texas, New York, Delaware, Illinois, and California.
Personal Story
Matthew was born and raised in Sussex, England, where he studied law at the University of Portsmouth before being called to the Bar in London in 2012. He began his career practicing real estate and commercial litigation in London before moving to Dallas in 2016. He proudly passed the Texas Bar on his first attempt and became a U.S. citizen in 2021.
A lifelong rugby enthusiast, Matthew played competitively into his mid-thirties. As a physical second row on the pitch, he earned the nickname “The Enforcer.”
Matthew enjoys spending time with his young son, Rupert, and their Cocker Spaniel, Effie, who keep life lively, entertaining, and full of laughter. He has a wide range of interests, including karaoke (with a respectable Elvis and Johnny Cash), live music, clay shooting, powerlifting, opera, and traveling across the U.S. He’s also a devoted fan of “Clarkson’s Farm” and holds onto a not-so-secret dream of becoming a gentleman farmer one day.
