Personal Story

Joseph grew up in Rochester, Minnesota, where he was raised in a family that valued hard work, education, and entrepreneurship. His father spent more than two decades as an engineer with IBM, while his mother dedicated herself to teaching and raising their family. Over the years, his parents also pursued several business ventures before successfully owning and operating multiple Kumon Math & Reading franchises for more than 30 years.

That same spirit of dedication and service extends throughout his family. Joseph’s younger brother has served as a Law Enforcement Ranger with the National Park Service for more than 15 years, with assignments at some of the country’s most iconic parks, including Big Bend, White Sands, Arches, Death Valley, Grand Canyon, Mount Rainier, and Crater Lake.

Joseph attended the University of Texas, where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration and competed on a debate team that won two national championships. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University, where he earned numerous advocacy awards and was recognized by the International Academy of Trial Lawyers as Outstanding Advocate.
